I approached yoga relatively late, when I was already in my thirties.
Sports have always been a fundamental part of my life, but back then I was so far removed from the idea of yoga. Having a job heavily focused on travel, power, and appearance at the time, my first approach to yoga could only be intensely physical. How much has changed since then.
The first lesson I learned from yoga is to try every day to remind myself who I am and what matters, doing my best not to waste energy on the stresses/annoyances/little setbacks of daily life, most often triggered by the ego. This exercise is already my yoga philosophy; the memory of how I feel In applying it on and off the mat creates my consistency and discipline.
On my best days, practice reconfirms the validity of the path I’ve chosen, and pure joy, like a special gaze in the eyes, allows me to grasp all the beauty around me.
On difficult days, practice teaches me acceptance, but also the strength to know how to wait, to tell myself, “It’s just a moment, it’s just a day, a thought, it’s not me.”
Everyday life, my relational universe, are my first mat; experience and memory, including that of my many falls (metaphorical and otherwise), are my way of sharing the practice through teaching.
I love sharing yoga with everyone, but especially with the most skeptical. What I’ve personally experienced is that yoga works on us despite ourselves, at different times and in different ways for each person, but it arrives nonetheless.
Given my active and curious nature, dynamic yoga, especially Rocket Yoga. is the style in which I express myself best. By offering the possibility to modify, adjust, and replace, Rocket Yoga offers a freedom that ranges from being an inspiration to grow to staying safe while respecting one’s own energy level and needs.
Over the years, I’ve taught everywhere, from traditional shalas to fancier studios, gyms, and luxury hotels. I believe it’s not the place that makes the student, but rather their curiosity and ability to capture inspiration and transform it into discipline.
