Katherine Pittore
Katherine Pittore Rocket Certificate with David Kyle in Barcelona 2025
My passion is to bring yoga to people who do not think yoga is for them, and my greatest happiness as a yoga teacher is when people tell me that they thought yoga was not for them, and that I made them love yoga, or that they achieve greater physical or mental comfort as a result of the practice.
I am truly a part time yogi- and I believe that strengthens my practice, supporting my students to bring yoga into their rest of their lives, and bring their full self to yoga. I started my personal practice 20 years ago, with a yoga class at a university gym, and since that I practiced many styles (Vinyasa, Hatha, Forrest, Somatic, Iyengar, and lots of Ashtanga).
I found Ashtanga by chance at a yoga studio in London in 2013 and fell in love with the practice, the challenge, and the opportunity to build strength and continue to challenge myself. I always had a vague notion of completing a yoga teacher training, but my job in international development, working on food security and nutrition (and also my passion and calling) with accompanying constant travel, got in the way. However, covid brought an end (for a while) to my travel, and I decided to use the time to do a teacher training, with the aim of deepening my practice. I chose to focus on Vinyasa, because I wanted more freedom to explore sequencing and play with more creativity in my practice, and left Ashtanga for a few years.
My introduction to Rocket was just as accidental. The studio where I teach scheduled a rocket class after mine, and I attended out of interest. Rocket was the yoga style I had been searching for- the systematic and strength building of Ashtanga with more opportunity for creativity within the practice. Since that class a few year ago, I have jumped back into Ashtanga, and focused my own practice on Rocket.
Balance in the practice, and in life is key for me and I teach and practice yoga to improve myself, and others, both on and off the mat.
