Mark Hanuman Geraghty

Licensed Rocket Yoga Teacher/Facilitator

Mark Hanuman Geraghty is a student and teacher of yoga living in Mexico for the past 10 years. He has a studio where he gives Rocket Yoga, as well as other styles of yoga (in Spanish and English) on the Pacific Coast of Mexico in Puerto Vallarta called TARAKA YOGA.  He currently gives 50hr Rocket Teacher Training through David Kyle’s Progressive Ashtanga Yoga school as well as retreats, workshops, workshops, philosophy courses, and kirtans. Along with Hatha Yoga and asanas, he enthusiastically studies yoga history, traditional yoga/Indic schools of thought, Sanskrit, classical texts, and the stories of the Puranas (the pantheon of Yoga/Hindu gods and goddesses).

He was certified in Sivananda Yoga in 2010 at the Sivananda Yoga Ashram in the Bahamas, where he has spent much time studying and teaching yoga over the last 10 years and where he received his spiritual name Hanuman.

In 2011, while studying for his Masters in Translation from the University of Puerto Rico, he began practicing yoga with his friend and teacher David Kyle, who introduced him to a radically different, yet complementary, style of yoga from Sivananda: Rocket Yoga. He participated in various certifications, courses and Rocket retreats. Throughout the years, he has been honored to form a part of different teams of teachings leading courses and teacher training in Rocket, Sivananda and other yoga styles, focusing on yoga philosophy and kirtan along with asanas.

He originally studied dance, music and theatre in university and worked in that field for many years until he suffered a severe accident that left him paralyzed with a broken neck in 2004. That is when he found yoga and through a slow, disciplined practice along with lots of positive thinking, he made a full recovery and continued his life in the arts, but with a new passion, yoga.

He is currently teaching yoga in Mexico, after having his own successful yoga studio in Querétaro for 8 years. He now lives on the beach but continues to give retreats, kirtans, satsangs, masterclasses, workshops, and teacher training all over Mexico as well as in other countries.

Always looking for new opportunities, he founded Omen Yogawear in 2019, dedicated to men’s yoga clothing, made and designed here in Mexico. He is currently working on a new project, Casa Taraka, which will combine healthy vegan food with a retreat center in the Riviera Nayarit.

His classes and fun and energetic, full of insights about all aspects of the practice; physical, emotional, energetic and philosophical. These details help his students focus while exploring their bodies and minds, always with the goal of self knowledge and leading a happier more fulfilling life. A mindful practice must be a blissful one, so smiling, laughing and giving thanks are integral parts of his classes.

The practice of asanas (postures) is an incredible tool in the yoga path, but its only a small part of the whole. The true practice happens inside, with each breathe we understand ourselves in a deeper, more subtle way. All of the yogic practices have the same goal: to cleanse the body, soothe the heart and purify the mind to gain more clarity and understand who we really are. It is only with such wisdom that we can truly lead happy and fulfilled lives.

Reflecting upon his experiences, he believes that the true power of yoga extends far beyond just the physical benefits; it has the power to transform every practitioner’s energy, mind, and, ultimately, their reality. With love, discipline, and faith, Everything is Possible.
